From flight logs: how the sites are flown
Sums from the flight logs club pilots have added: number of flights and years, the longest flight, the highest point, the farthest from launch, the average flight, the direction just after takeoff and flights per month. Only the sums are published, never the tracks or who flew.
- Where
- The site page, in the box «From flight logs», for sites with flights in the logs (about 20 sites so far, most on Sollifjellet and Storlitinden).
- How to read it
- The direction is the one flown in the first seconds after takeoff, roughly into the wind, and shows which launch directions are actually used. Single flights can differ when the log starts a little after takeoff. Flights per month is the sum over all years, so it shows the season. The numbers only cover the logs added, not everyone who flies there.
Wind above the launch has a new look
The wind at heights above the launch hour by hour, now with gusts, thermals, clouds and rain under it. For now on Sollifjellet, Sætertinden, Heia, Kilhusåsen and Elgen.
- Where
- The site page, under «Can I fly here now?» → «Details: Yr hour by hour and winds aloft».
- How to read it
- Each box is the wind at that height: green is suitable, yellow borderline, red too strong, and the arrow shows where the wind blows. The orange line is roughly how high the thermals go: solid up to the cloud base, dashed where they go into cloud. Swipe sideways for more hours.
Pilots in the air on the map
Paragliders in the air right now, with their track over the last 10 minutes.
- Where
- The map on the home page and the site pages → the layer button → «Pilots in the air».
- How to read it
- The wing points where the pilot flies, and the numbers are height and climb or sink. The track is coloured: orange and red is lift, grey is gliding, blue is sink. Only pilots who share their position with the Open Glider Network are shown.
Flying activity: flights per site
How many flights are flown from each site, today, in the last 30 days and per month.
- Where
- The menu → «Flying activity», and on each site page above «Links».
- How to read it
- A flight counts for the site nearest where the pilot took off. Only those who share their position with the Open Glider Network are included, so the numbers are lower than reality. Counting began on 19 October 2026.
MET's weather stations
MET's weather stations in the area are now shown together with the club's Holfuy stations.
- Where
- The map → the layer button → «MET weather stations», and the menu → «Measured wind».
- How to read it
- MET's stations often measure only once an hour and often stand low, so they are dimmed on the map. Switch between «Wind» and «Temp» at the top of the map.
How well does the forecast hit here?
The forecast compared with what was actually measured over the last 30 days.
- Where
- The site page under «Measured now», on Heia, Sætertinden and Hinnstein.
- How to read it
- «Stronger than forecast» means it blew more than MET forecast. The numbers show once at least a day of measurements is collected.
Report a change
A form to report changes or errors, without a GitHub account.
- Where
- At the bottom of each site page, and the menu → «Report».
- How to read it
- The report becomes an issue for the club, and you get a link to it once it is sent.
