About the site and privacy

Responsibility

The overview is a rough guide. The club takes no responsibility for information about safety, airspace or landowner agreements. Every pilot and student decides for themselves whether the site and conditions are OK, and always checks airspace and NOTAM in IPPC before flying.

The wind assessment is a rough assessment from the MET forecast for each launch. It does not see local conditions, and never says it is «OK to fly».

The site builds on Lars Sletten's old site guide, which he has given to the club.

Sources and licences

Each site page shows at the bottom which sources the site is based on, and what each field comes from under «Details». The data comes from:

• Kartverket (opens in a new tab): maps, heights and elevation profiles (CC BY 4.0).
• openAIP (opens in a new tab): airspace over the launches (CC BY-NC 4.0). Not for navigation.
• Norwegian Meteorological Institute (MET) (opens in a new tab): the wind forecast for each launch (CC BY 4.0), and the meteograms from Yr (delivered by NRK and MET).
• Open-Meteo (opens in a new tab): winds aloft (CC BY 4.0).
• Flightlog (opens in a new tab): launch coordinates and directions for many sites, and links to the sites there.
• Map layers: OpenTopoMap and OpenStreetMap contributors (CC BY-SA), satellite imagery from Sentinel-2 cloudless by EOX (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0), thermals from thermal.kk7.ch (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0) and precipitation radar from RainViewer.
• Local knowledge from the club's members, and walking routes logged with GPS on the way up.
• Photos: the photographer and licence are below the photos on each site page.

The credits the maps and licences require are also shown with the data itself: in the map, below the airspace figure and below the photos.

Privacy

• The site counts visits anonymously with GoatCounter (opens in a new tab), without cookies. It counts which pages are visited and some clicks (for example tabs, filters and map layers), not who visits them.
• What you type in the search field is never sent anywhere. Searches without hits are only counted as a number.
• Your choices for colour mode and colour-blind-friendly colours are only stored in your browser. Once you have visited a page, the browser may store it and the map tiles you have seen, so it works offline.
• Maps, satellite imagery, thermals, radar and the Yr meteogram are loaded from the services that make them, and they see your IP address, as with any website. The fonts are served from the site itself.
• The site has no login and no forms, and stores no personal data about you.
